FilingOak · LLC Formation by State

Alabama LLC Formation Service

Alabama has two numbers that are easy to collapse into one. The Secretary of State currently charges $200 for the Certificate of Formation, but a domestic LLC also needs a name-reservation certificate before the formation filing moves forward.

FilingOak charges a $236 Alabama state-side amount for its current online formation route. With FilingOak's $495 service fee, the standard order is $731. The $236 is shown as FilingOak's state-side amount, not as though Alabama had one statutory $236 Certificate fee.

The other useful Alabama distinction comes after formation: an ordinary LLC does not file a routine Secretary of State annual report, but that does not erase Alabama tax registration or Business Privilege Tax questions.

The name reservation comes before the Certificate of Formation

Alabama does not treat name availability as something to sort out after a $200 Certificate is submitted. The Secretary of State requires a name-reservation certificate first, so a buyer comparing only the Certificate fee is looking at an incomplete filing sequence.

No LLC annual report does not mean no Alabama follow-up

Alabama's current business-entity regime does not require an ordinary domestic LLC to file a routine annual report with the Secretary of State. Alabama Department of Revenue obligations are a different system. Many small entities can receive the Business Privilege Tax exemption when the calculated tax is $100 or less, but eligibility depends on the tax facts.

Alabama also directs entities into My Alabama Taxes for state tax registration. FilingOak does not turn that separate tax-registration system into part of the Secretary of State formation fee. Alabama official filing and fee guidance

Alabama's registered office cannot be just a mailbox

The formation record identifies the organizer and the registered-agent arrangement. Alabama requires a registered agent and a registered office that satisfies the state's physical-address rules; a mailbox or mail-forwarding arrangement alone does not satisfy the registered-office role.

The organizer and agent appear without forcing a full owner roster

The organizer and registered-agent information belong to the state filing record. Member or manager names are not a universal Certificate-of-Formation requirement merely because those people own or manage the LLC. FilingOak therefore uses Public Record Address Privacy only for fields the real Alabama filing and FilingOak workflow allow; it does not promise anonymity or substitute an address where Alabama requires something else.

DIY is reasonable if the name reservation and Alabama follow-up are manageable

If you are comfortable obtaining the name reservation, preparing the Certificate, arranging a valid Alabama registered agent and handling the later tax-registration questions yourself, Alabama gives you a direct filing route. Paying FilingOak should solve administrative work you actually want handled; it is not an entrance fee to a state form.

FilingOak is more useful when you want the required sequence, formation filing, first-year Registered Agent service, Operating Agreement, EIN application and formation records handled together.
